For most children, the New Year brings new hopes, fresh possibilities and exciting things to look forward to. But for around 35,000 children across the UK 2025 will mean something very different: they will enter the care system because their home is unsafe or unable to meet their needs.
Many of these children will move between placements frequently, and shockingly, their belongings are often carried in black bin bags - a practice that often leaves lasting effects on their self-esteem and sense of worth.
