Pour Over Filter Recipe
Experience a clean and flavorful cup of coffee with this easy pour-over filter recipe:
-
Coffee-to-Water Ratio: For a balanced flavor, use a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio. For 2 servings, use 25 grams of coffee (about 5 tablespoons) and 375ml of water.
-
Heat Water: Bring water to a temperature of about 90-96°C (195-205°F).
-
Prepare Coffee: Grind 25g of coffee to a medium-coarse consistency.
-
Set Up: Place your pour-over device (like a Hario V60 or Chemex) on a scale and insert a filter. Rinse the filter with hot water to eliminate any paper taste and preheat the brewer.
-
Add Coffee: Add the ground coffee to the filter, levelling it out.
-
Bloom: Start a timer and slowly pour 50ml of hot water over the grounds, fully saturating them. Let it bloom for 30-45 seconds. This helps release built-up CO2 and enhances flavour.
-
Brew: After blooming, gradually pour the remaining hot water (325ml) in a circular motion over the coffee grounds. Aim for a steady, slow pour to ensure even extraction.
-
Finish: Allow the water to drip through completely. The total brew time should be around 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.
-
Serve: Once the brewing is complete, remove the pour-over device and enjoy your fresh filter coffee!
